Job Purpose

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Distribution Team Leader to join its logistics and distribution team in Polokwane.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting effective delivery and distribution operations,  managing resources, controlling operational costs, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and ensuring that the team achieves its performance targets.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Delivery & Distribution Management

• Execute delivery plans effectively.
• Ensure required distribution standards are achieved.
• Monitor and optimise distribution performance.
• Maintain and improve customer service levels.
• Support on-time and efficient product delivery.

Operational & Financial Control

• Monitor and control operational budgets.
• Control and minimise shortages.
• Process immediate invoices.
• Monitor operational performance against targets.
• Ensure resources are used efficiently.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain a safe, healthy and risk-free working environment.
• Ensure health and safety requirements are followed.
• Perform required administrative duties.
• Ensure operational activities comply with company standards and procedures.

Resource & People Management

•  Manage employees, including performance and development.
• Encourage teamwork and a collaborative working environment.
• Optimise individual and team performance.
• Manage owner drivers.
• Ensure team members work towards operational and distribution targets.

Minimum Education Requirements

Applicants should have:

B.Com Degree/Diploma or an equivalent recognised qualification in Transport, Transport Logistics or a related field.

Experience Requirements

Candidates should have:

• A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a distribution, logistics or transport environment.
• Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role.
• Experience managing budgets and financial processes.
• A demonstrated track record of improving team performance and achieving operational targets.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of distribution and logistics systems/software.
• Financial understanding for budget management and invoice processing.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to manage teams and work effectively under operational pressure.
