South African Air Force – Air Force Base Hoedspruit Reference Number: AFBHPST/02/0826/04 Salary: R138,486 per annum (Level 02) Centre: AFB Hoedspruit, Limpopo Employment Type: Permanent No Experience Required (entry-level cleaning role)

Purpose Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance duties across offices, facilities, and ablution areas at AFB Hoedspruit to maintain hygiene, cleanliness, and a safe working environment in support of military aviation operations.

Requirements

• Minimum ABET qualification (basic literacy/numeracy – equivalent to Grade 7–9 or adult basic  education)
• No prior experience required

Special Requirements (Skills Needed)

• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal) in English
• Knowledge of basic maintenance of machinery with low complexity in operating it
• Knowledge of basic hand tools and cleaning equipment
• Ability to operate cleaning machines (e.g., vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, scrubbers)
• Ability to perform routine tasks consistently
• Ability to work in a team and individually

Duties / Key Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning-related duties in offices and other facilities as directed by Supervisor:
  • Sweeping
  • Vacuuming
  • Window cleaning
  • Dusting
  • Polishing furniture and floors
• Clean ablution facilities (toilets, basins, showers)
• Report any defects in the workplace (e.g., broken equipment, leaks, hazards) to immediate supervisor promptly
• Maintain tidiness and hygiene standards at all times
• Assist with basic upkeep and safe handling of cleaning equipment
