Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
– Grade 12
– National Diploma in Fire Technology or Higher Diploma in Fire Technology (SAESI) or equivalent
– National Treasury Minimum Municipal Competency (MFMA)
– OHS Manager, SAMTRAC, ASTRAC or equivalent
– Presiding/Presenting Certificate (Disciplinary Matters)
– Be computer literate and proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
– Valid Driver’s License
– 10 years appropriate experience, including 2 years relevant experience as Manager in a Metropolitan Local Authority Fire/Emergency Services
Core Responsibilities
– Manage the overall strategic planning, management and administration of fire safety services regarding the implementation and strategic direction of the Division.
– Manage an administrative function to meet predetermined requirements, ensuring organisational objectives are met in the short, medium and long term.
– Maintain effective administrative systems and processes for the fire safety services.
– Be responsible for the management, direction and performance of the Emergency Services Fire Safety Section.
– Governance and Risk Management in terms of legislation, policies and procedures.
– Governance and Financial Processes in terms of legislation, policies and procedures.
– Develop a customer service excellence culture and care for other person’s life and/or assets without favour and/or prejudice.
– Continuously assess own performance, professional interaction and ethical dealings with stakeholders/clients and co-workers whilst ensuring compliance with fair labour practice.

Important Information
The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance contract as per Council resolution.
