The Department of Correctional Services is offering a 36-month Independent Correctional Centre Visitor opportunity at Van Rhynsdorp Correctional Centre. Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Senior Certificate

Computer literacy and accuracy

Recent nomination letter from a community organisation

Good communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge of Batho Pele principles

Driver’s licence is an advantage

Preference may be given to nearby residents

Main Duties

Visit the correctional centre and interview inmates

Receive, record and follow up on complaints

Maintain case files and capture information

Compile monthly and statistical reports

Attend to enquiries and urgent matters

About the Role

The Independent Correctional Centre Visitor plays an important oversight role by ensuring that inmates’ concerns are heard, properly recorded and followed up. The position combines community representation with structured administrative and reporting responsibilities inside a correctional facility.

Successful candidates will gain valuable experience in complaint handling, case management, report writing and working within a regulated government environment while receiving a fixed annual package plus 37% in lieu of benefits.
